CIS Scoring Tools enable enterprises to:
- Verify the security configuration of systems prior to network deployment.
- Check and monitor systems and network devices for ongoing conformity with the benchmarks or Benchmark-based policies.
- Demonstrate to auditors and business partners their compliance with the CIS Benchmarks and Benchmark-based configuration policies.
The Tools are host based and produce reports that guide users in securing both new installations and production systems.

| CIS-CAT (Center for Internet Security - Configuration Audit Tool) |
CIS-CAT is a configuration assessment / scoring tool available to CIS Members only. It is a Java tool that reports the configuration status of the target system compared to the technical controls defined in the CIS Benchmark XML files that it reads, and reports the comparative score on a conformity scale of 0 - 100. CIS-CAT is available for download from the CIS Members website.

In addition to CIS-CAT, CIS also distributes the following Benchmark configuration scoring tools:
- Router Audit Tool (RAT)
- Apache Benchmark Tool
The tool files are available for download from the public website along with the benchmarks. However, CIS no longer develops, maintains or provides support for use of these tools. They will reach end of life when the Benchmarks for which they were created become out of date and are no longer distributed by CIS.
CIS-CAT IS THE ONLY SOFTWARE TOOL THAT CIS CONTINUES TO DEVELOP AND SUPPORT.
